Confession Letter
From the first time I met you, I didn’t know what to expect of you. And the more time I spend with you, the more you surprise me.
What do you call that force which brings people together? I’ve heard of chemistry, but I think that’s a cold way to put it. It’s not some inevitable result of chemical reactions. It’s a constant process of genuine effort, shared belief, and passion intentionally displayed through action. You’re not perfect, and I’m definitely making mistakes too, but it’s been incredibly fun. Reconciling our differences is just how we get to know each other better. You’ve also pushed me to grow a lot in a short period of time. Thank you for this.
Are my eyes rose-tinted from the fact that many of the experiences I have with you are firsts for me? Yes, probably, but it doesn’t diminish all the good that you have in you. You decided to do what you think is truly the right thing to do, and the right way to do it, despite the noise and pressure all around us. You’re making history, and I’m so happy to be supporting you. You inspire me to become the best version of myself, too.
I see that you’re a manifestation of the human desire to make the world better for our children. I don’t think I’ve ever believed in a mission so strongly since I fell out of Christianity, heh. I’m amazed at how tenaciously spirited you are in making that brighter future possible. I don’t mind at all spending long evenings with you. Actually, most days I feel more at home with you than in my own bedroom.
I know things might change a lot as you grow. Still, I promise to be on my best behavior everyday while we are on this journey, and to hold close all of the memories we’ve made along the way.
